GOALS:

To learn more about one particular poet’s life

To become familiar with some of that poet’s poetry

To work on research skills

To become more familiar with Inspiration software

To practice writing skills

RESEARCH SKILLS:

Using reference books

Using the Web effectively

Writing citations

OUTCOME:

Poster that contains

            One Inspiration-generated mind map of your poet’s biography

                        Place of birth, family,  education, influences, other interesting information

            Two paragraphs (one per person) giving the biography

            Two poems by the poet

            One “homage” poem by the Team

            Optional:  Picture of the poet

DUE DATE:  __FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13 ___________________________________________

Note:  We will not have the laptop cart and will take turns with room computers.

POETS, POEMS, AND TEAMS

Day One:

Everyone uses paper encyclopedias and/or other paper reference sources

Day Two:

½ class works on Inspiration to create bio

½ class works on homage poems

Day Three:

Reverse groups from Day Two

Day Four:

Put visual presentation together and share orally
